Dr. Phil and his panel of experts examine this disturbing trend. And, the recent death of Tyler Clementi, an 18-year-old Rutgers University freshman, stirred outrage and remorse among classmates. The student allegedly jumped off the George Washington Bridge after a secret video of his sexual encounter with another male was streamed online. Clementi's roommate, Dharun Ravi, and Rutgers freshman, Molly Wei, both 18, have been charged with invading his privacy. Prosecutors say that Ravi tried to webcast a second encounter the day before Clementi's apparent suicide. Should the students face more severe charges in light of Clementi's apparent suicide? Dr. Phil and Brandon’s family performed one of the first interventions on national television. Now Brandon and his mother, Debbie, are using their experiences to help other families deal with addiction and recovery. Barbara and Kevin are divorced parents united in a search for help with their son, Nick, 23, who’s addicted to heroin and alcohol. Barbara is in recovery herself, currently sober seven years, and feels guilty for all the years Nick was exposed to her drinking. Kevin, who moved away and started a new family when Nick was young, wants to rebuild a relationship with his son, but worries about the toxic nature of his relationship with his ex-wife. Jamie Lynn is an aspiring singer, living on her own and performing in bars. Her parents don’t approve of her lifestyle and especially her choice in a boyfriend, whom they refuse to even meet. When the family dug into Shawn’s past, they were shocked at what they discovered. Jamie Lynn says she’s old enough to make her own decisions and if her family gives her an ultimatum, she will choose Shawn. Shawn says he would never hurt Jamie Lynn and can’t believe her parents are judging him without even meeting him.
