Grace wrote into the show because she says she fears for the well-being of her 14-month-old nephew and her mother, Pam. Grace claims her sister Ashlan abandoned her son, leaving Pam to raise the child, because she says Ashlan’s only priorities are “stripping, partying, and picking up ‘sugar daddies.’” Ashlan says that she doesn’t think she’s a bad mom at all, in fact, she thinks Grace and her mom need to back off and stop making such horrible claims. Twenty-two-year-old Joselyn claims when she was growing up, her mother, Aaliyah’s, use of corporal punishment was downright abusive. Tragically, Aaliyah’s son murdered his grandmother, Aaliyah’s mother, in December 2012, and Joselyn says that she believes Aaliyah’s abuse contributed to him “snapping.” Aaliyah doesn’t deny she used extreme discipline, but says she also grew up with abuse and was parenting the only way she knew how. Seventy-eight-year-old Irina claims the man she met online and fell in love with, “David Adams,” is stranded in Nigeria, and she needs Dr. Phil’s help to find and bring him back to the USA. Irina says she has sent “David” her life savings, over $76,000, to help him return but after a series of unfortunate events, “David” remains stuck in Lagos, Nigeria. Irina’s daughter Monique and son Eric say they believe 100% that this is a scam and that their mom is being “catfished” by someone who doesn’t exist, something Irina says she refuses to accept. Monique and Eric tell Dr. Phil they want him to help prove them right. Does “David Adams” exist? What will Dr. Phil’s international investigation reveal? (OAD: 11-1-16)

Carolyn and Laura reached out to Dr. Phil pleading for help with their brother, Matt, who they say is out-of-control and bipolar. They claim Matt self-medicates with alcohol and is repeatedly getting himself into trouble. Carolyn and Laura say that Matt’s wife, Nancy, is the reason for Matt’s manic episodes; including setting his own house on fire and leaving his dog with burns and paint marks. Nancy says that the majority of Matt’s issues stem from his mental illness and that she refuses to leave him because he doesn’t have anyone else he can rely on. Can Dr. Phil help this dysfunctional family make amends and construct a healthy lifestyle for Matt?

Lisa says she is convinced her daughter Sara is a drug addict and “unfit.” Lisa says Sara is out-of-control and claims that she stole her own grandmother’s identity to obtain credit cards in her name and spent over $1,000. Sara denies taking illicit drugs and says her mom is “hateful and mean.” Sara says she wants one thing and one thing only … an apology from her mom for the accusations and, according to Sara, turning her own kids against her. Linda and Gary say they fell in love with their only child, Lyzzy, when they brought her home 24 years ago after an open adoption. They admit to spoiling her, but now they fear that may have backfired. They say Lyzzy has stolen thousands of dollars from her dad and aunt. Linda and Gary say its constant drama with their 24-year-old daughter, who refuses to move out of their home. Lyzzy’s family says they are also worried about her physical health since they claim she has put on about 100 pounds since high school. Lyzzy, who admits to being unhappy at home and overeating, has said she may want to make a few changes. Dr. Phil offers advice to this family about how they can rebuild their relationships. And, Dr. Travis Stork, host of the Emmy Award-winning show The Doctors, gives advice to Lyzzy and her family based on his latest book, “The Lose Your Belly Diet.” (OAD: 12-8-16)

Barbara Ann says her daughter Danielle is out of control. Barbara Ann claims she steals, lies and at just 13 years old, she says she doesn’t know what to do with her. Barbara Ann says she would rather hand Danielle over to the authorities as she says she can’t control her. While filming with the Dr. Phil staff, Danielle stole a Dr. Phil crew member’s car and went joyriding.
